Most of Sequoia’s funding is also from non-profits such as Ford Foundation and MIT, so returns from any exits are for a good cause.

Atlas Ventures has helped build high-impact biotech companies and primarily dabbles in the life sciences industry. It’s backed high-profile biotech companies such as Novexel, Delinia, and Infacare.

3. Tencent Holdings

Tencent Holdings focuses its investments on Technology but has an over-arching goal of investing in any internet-based service company. The VC firm has backed large successful brands such as WeChat and QQ, and primarily focuses on the Chinese market.
